We’ve all heard of big dogs and likely seen some really large breeds, but very rarely does one ever see a wolf behaving just like a domesticated dog.
Similar is the case with the Canadian wolf, Akela, and his owner, Andrey – a pair of big kids who make it seem like this is part of their everyday routine.
Personally, I’d be a bit intimidated by such a large animal, but it’s clear that Akela is just a big-hearted pup at heart.
In the video that Andrey posted on his YouTube channel, we can witness just how adorable Akela’s behavior is.
First, he poses for the camera with Andrey, and then he starts playfully interacting with him, nuzzling his face against Andrey’s and lightly nipping at the hood of his hoodie.
He even goes as far as climbing on top of Andrey and settling down on him, all while still attempting to reach his hoodie and show his playful nature.
To most of us, that might trigger a racing heart, but Akela’s owner understands that he’s just engaging in playfulness and wouldn’t intentionally harm him.
He does eventually succeed in pulling the hoodie down, marking a victory for him.
Throughout the video, Akela continues to be playful, clearly desiring to resume playing rather than being interested in filming a video, simply wanting quality time with Andrey.
For some, the nipping might seem intimidating, as well as some of the seemingly assertive behaviors that Akela might be displaying. However, these actions appear more imposing due to his size.
Most other dogs exhibit similar, if not the exact same behaviors when they’re play-fighting with their canine buddies.
This behavior is also reminiscent of the way wolves interact with other members of their pack—it’s a form of entertainment for them. To Akela, Andrey is considered part of his pack.
